Orlando/Kissimmee/Clermont Excavation & Paving

Excavation, site clearing, and earthwork are very important then it comes to construction in Central Florida. But was is Earthworks? It deals with the removal of earth, such as soil, dirt, rocks, topsoil and large rock formations. It is a complex task, it can affect plantlike and wildlife, there is a change in vegetation, while maintaining an ecological balance.

Roadways and Paving

Whether it is the construction of a new roadway or demolition of an existing one, earthwork is involved. When it comes to new roadways, vegetation, trees, and hills need to be taken down and a path made for the new road. Taking up an existing road means bringing in soil, properly  leveling the soil, to make way for paving. The team at Swell Construction are experts at building roads here in Central Florida. The last thing you want is water pooling every time it storms or needing to make repairs in just a few short years.

Buildings

Land clearing is typically necessary for a new project. The ground conditions are not suitable to support a foundation and structure. New soil and dirt is brought to the property, grading and leveling is done to allow for a sturdy building.

Total Teardown

Earthwork is necessary when there are existing structures on the property. The buildings safely torn down, graded, land cleared and leveled with precision and complete expertise.

If a site is not prepared properly before construction begins, the entire project can be compromised.

Steps To Excavation/Site Clearing In Orlando & Kissimmee

How important is it to properly prepare your Central Florida land or property for construction?  What does it really entail? This first step to construction is bringing the ground to a “working condition level”. Site clearing and excavation is by far one of the most important parts of any project.

When preparing land for construction there are 5 critical areas

Land clearing

What condition is the property you’ve selected for your new development? Is it heavy with brush, trees, and vegetation? Are there any obstacles on the land?  The land would need to be cleared, the brushed and stumps removed. Eliminating boulders, large rocks, pulling roots, removing any debris and objects. Clearing the site makes it suitable to begin work.

Structure demolition

Are there any existing structures on the land? Will they need to be demolished and the unnecessary materials hauled off? Heavy equipment such as excavators, dump trucks, and bulldozers, are needed to transport the debris and to level and fill the land.

Alteration of terrain

This includes proper leveling, elevating, creating slopes, and filing of the soil to ensure adequate drainage, minimize erosion, and prevent flooding. Careful land grading to match construction requirements and an appealing appearance.

Soil quality

The soil is responsible for the weight of the building, making the quality essential. Not all soil is the same, unsuitable soil will need to taken off site and replacement dirt will be needed for proper construction preparation. After the filling process the land will need to be graded and leveled.

Safeguarding utility infrastructure

Underground utilities, pipes, water lines, gas, cable, and conduits are vital to construction projects. At Swell Construction we adhere the highest safety standards, ensuring everything is properly installed.

There are many aspects that go into excavation and site development. Swell Construction Group is a trusted site development group in Central Florida. We provide services in land clearing, grading, earthwork, excavation, paving and storm water and utility systems installation.

Depending on the needs of your Central Florida construction project,  it may require land clearing, grading, earthwork, excavation, paving and storm water and utility systems installation. To ensure your project is done right, you need to hire professionals, with experience in site clearing and excavation.

What type of excavation do you need?

Depending on the project, some type of site clearing work is necessary. From the type of construction job, materials and purpose of the excavation.

Types of excavation work

Excavation services based a particular job

Based on a specific excavation task you need to accomplish. To get the job done effectively and safely it requires specific heavy equipment, technique, and experience.

Cut and fill excavation

This typically involves removing rock, gravel, soil, obstructions, and unwanted vegetation from the project time.  This often includes leveling or grading the site, according to plan.

Drainage excavation

Drainage is essential for any project here in Central Florida. Constructing storm drains to channel water way from buildings by means of drains, ditches, trenches, and depressions for water runoff. If not done properly at the time of initial construction, it can lead to costly problems down the road.

Borrow excavation

Some construction sites may need materials brought onto the site. Such as a combination of soil, sand, and gravel. This is typically needed for backfilling areas and then the area is leveled based on the specific needs.

Clermont Excavation & Site Clearing

Land clearing, excavation, removal of trees, vegetation and debris to prepare for construction or some type of development is an important step in the process.

Some basic terms you may need to know when it comes to clearing the land

Clearing

The cutting down of trees, brush, and removing all unwanted vegetation and debris.

Grubbing

The clearing of roots and stumps by grinding or digging. This typically requires heavy machinery such as dump trucks, bulldozer, scrapers, and compactors.

Excavating

Removing any surplus soil. This could mean taking down a hill and anything left emerged after the land has been cleared. This is also the time holes are dug for things like a septic system.

Leveling

Construction leveling devices are used to ensure the soil is in the proper place according to the plans. Graded slopes are created to make sure water flows away from future structures. The dirt is carefully smoothed out, so that slopes are not too shallow or too steep.

Stabilizing

Equipment is used to stabilize the soil, eliminating any holes or air pockets that may be under the top layer of earth.

Backfilling

The process of returning dirt to an area that has been excavated and the related work has been completed. Backfill is very important, it takes experience, a good understanding of specifications, heavy equipment, soil conditions and contract requirements. It also takes special precaution must also be taken around utility lines and ditches.

Dentist Test

A density test will determine how much stone, soil, or blacktop has been compacted. The process of backfilling can be tedious, it is done layer by layer, each needs to be compacted properly.

Top Soil

The top soil is an important component to the finished project. It is applied where pathways, lawns, and patios will exist. This will enable strong plants and grass development.
